You feel the ground shake. Or maybe you just see “Earthquake Near Me” trending on Twitter.
Immediately, you feel two things. First, you feel fear. Second, you feel guilt.
You think, “I promised myself I would build a Go Bag three years ago, and I still haven’t done it.”
This is Prepper Paralysis. We think being prepared means building a bunker and buying 50 gallons of water. That feels impossible, so we do nothing.
Good Enough is Better Than Nothing
Real “Preppers” will tell you that you need a tactical knife, a solar generator, and iodine tablets.
Ignore them. You don’t need to survive a zombie apocalypse. You just need to survive a really bad Tuesday.
Basically, having a messy backpack with a water bottle and a granola bar is 100% better than having a perfect plan that only exists in your head.

3 Steps to Build a “Lazy” Go Bag Today
Stop overthinking it. Grab an old backpack from the back of your closet. Here is what to throw in it right now.
1. The “Hotel Room” Rule
What do you truly need to survive for 24 hours? You don’t need a tent.
The Fix: Throw in a spare phone charger (or power bank), a warm hoodie, and a toothbrush. If you have to run out of the house, these small comforts will keep you sane.
2. The “Vending Machine” Diet
Don’t worry about buying expensive “astronaut food” or MREs.
Go to your pantry. Grab a box of granola bars. Grab a jar of peanut butter. Throw in two bottles of water.

Ideally, you want food that doesn’t need cooking. If you are stressed during an emergency, you want a Snickers bar, not dehydrated beef stew.
3. The “Paper Brain”
If the power goes out, you lose access to your phone contacts and Google Drive.
Write down important phone numbers (mom, partner, insurance) on an actual piece of paper. Put it in a Ziploc bag. Also, stick $50 in cash in there. Credit card machines go down during earthquakes; cash always works.

Conclusion
You don’t need to be a survivalist to be safe.
Fill your lazy emergency kit today. Put it by the door. Then, the next time you see “Earthquake” in the news, you won’t feel panic. You will feel prepared.
Tell me in the comments: Do you have a “Go Bag” ready, or is your plan just to grab your phone and run?
